The very first students arrived when IST opened its doors in 2014. This is when the seed of the IB philosophy was planted at IST and started to grow. Step by step, each year the IB PYP Learner Profile became apparent not only on the walls of IST but also in the minds and hearts of our students.

Our oldest students are now in Grade Four and they are continually learning how to become critical thinkers and inquirers. They are becoming internationally minded citizens of the world who care about our planet and find peaceful resolutions strongly rooted in the IB attitudes.

Over the past four years, the IB mission statement has been the guiding principle for our growing community. The leadership, students, teachers and parents have been collaboratively working on the development and implementation of our own ‘International School of Ticino’ Mission Statement.

“The International School of Ticino is committed to providing an excellent international education. We value the potential, character and unique talent of every individual. Through an inquiry based approach our students become life-long learners and creative thinkers. Our innovative pedagogy based on the IB-PYP programme encourages our students to respect each other, to respect the environment, to communicate through active dialogue and to create the foundations of a collaborative society. We achieve this within a safe, nurturing environment with a strong sense of community at its heart.”

IB-PYP accreditation is real evidence of the quality of the teaching and learning that takes place in The International School of Ticino.

Receiving this accreditation as an academic institution is a highly valued recognition of the overall standards being met in school consistently.

The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) is the most outstanding international accreditation organization in the world.

The International Baccalaureate offers a continuum of international education from PYP (Primary Years Programme) through MYP (Middle Years Programme) ending with DP (Diploma Programme).

All programmes encourage both personal and academic success, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. IST’s accreditation process was rigorous and comprehensive. It was aimed at not only affirming current practices, but also for providing a framework for on-going development and improvement in the future.

The International School of Ticino is proud to be officially accredited by the IBO as an IB World School!

The certificate of authorisation confirms that IST meets all IB requirements in accordance with the standards for IB World Schools. IST has become part of a global community of schools committed to developing knowledgeable and caring young people, who will be ready to shape their future successfully and make valuable contributions resulting in a more harmonious and peaceful world.
